The wonders of gravity

I handed the little boy his cone from over the counter. He had to jump up to reach the ice cream so far above his head. It was spiderman, kids' size, but still piled high with my delicate scoops. He flicked his too-long blond hair out of his face before grabbing the fragile confectionary and running back a few steps to hide behind his mother.

He licked the top once, his little tongue scooping into the ice cream.
Twice.
Three times.

Once the top of the ice cream cone had been devoured, he turned it on its side. That's when it all went wrong.
Two clean scoops of red and blue spiderman ice cream were projected to the floor. He jumped back in surprise, staring into the empty abyss of cone he still held.

Some people just don't understand gravity yet.

  1. I see this all the time too.

We only serve Soft Serve Ice Cream where I work and it makes me laugh to see little kids (And adults) turn the ice cream to a horizontal position and start to lick it.

It is even funnier when it is 105 degress outside and they are baffled that the rapidly liquifying, 6 inch tall ice cream, did not stay perfectly in its cone.

It is even FUNNIER when they are walking out (requiring a step down) licking their cones horizontally, and take a hard step (Making their whole body and cone give a violent shake) and they sen their ice cream to the ground.....

It is really this hard to lick ice cream properly? >.<
